Every child is a natural-born learner, full of potential waiting to be unlocked. One of the fundamental skills we cultivate in our preschoolers is phonetic reading, a vital stepping stone on their journey to becoming proficient readers and confident communicators.

Clay Montessori incorporates phonetic reading into its curriculum, ensuring our young wordsmiths embark on a lifelong adventure of language exploration and literacy.

  1. The Montessori Approach to Phonics: At the heart of our phonetic reading curriculum lies the Montessori approach, a time-tested and child-centered method that respects the individual pace and learning style of each child. Our experienced teachers introduce the phonetic sounds of letters through hands-on, multi-sensory activities, making the learning process engaging and enjoyable.
  2. Montessori Phonics Materials: Clay Montessori classrooms are adorned with a carefully curated collection of phonics materials that spark curiosity and independent exploration. From sandpaper letters that invite tactile exploration to movable alphabets that allow children to construct words, each material serves a specific purpose in nurturing the child's reading abilities.
  3. Building Phonetic Words: As children progress in their phonetic reading journey, they are encouraged to build words with movable letters, empowering them to experiment with sounds and spellings independently. This hands-on approach fosters a deep understanding of how words are constructed, laying the foundation for both reading and writing.
  4. Phonetic Reading Games and Activities: Learning at Clay Montessori is all about play and discovery. We integrate phonetic reading games and activities into the daily routine, transforming learning into a joyous adventure. Whether it's i-spy game for objects that start with a particular sound or rhyming games that tickle the imagination, our students are immersed in an environment that celebrates the wonders of language.
  5. Language-Rich Environment: Language surrounds our young learners like a warm embrace. Storytelling sessions, and group reading activities cultivate a love for literature and storytelling, encouraging our students to become avid readers from an early age.
  6. Individualized Instruction: Every child is unique, and their learning journey should reflect that individuality. We observe each child's progress closely, providing personalized guidance and support when needed. This approach ensures that children are neither overwhelmed nor held back, allowing them to blossom at their own pace.

At Clay Montessori, phonetic reading is more than just an academic pursuit; it's a gateway to a world of endless possibilities. By incorporating Montessori principles, a rich environment, and engaging activities, we cultivate not just strong readers but also confident communicators and lifelong learners.

Our phonetic reading curriculum forms the backbone of our commitment to nurturing young minds with a perfect balance of learning and fun, where the joy of discovery knows no bounds.

Clay Montessori at Matunga is a wonderful new setup headed by Hetal. Hetal is kind and warm, and is my son’s favourite teacher. She leads from the front, and gives one on one time to every child. The settling down period which I was concerned about, was smooth, and I loved that the focus was on building the child’s trust in the environment and with the teachers. The teachers - Prerna and Simony and even the helper (didi) are suitably trained in the Montessori way. The focus on building life skills in the child is different and refreshing. The educational games/ toys/ facilities are all top notch and maintained superbly with a keen eye on cleanliness and hygiene. Just the peaceful space and the freedom that my child gets to explore, experiment and choose his activity , blows my mind every time. There is so much to learn and do, and the gentleness of the teachers warms my heart ❤️. I feel happy that at a tender age he has such a beautiful place to learn and grow.

I am so delighted to share my experience with Clay Montessori as a parent. My son , Shlok, was 2.2 years when he joined the Montessori. I thought the settling phase would be very challenging and would take time. To my surprise, my child settled down there within a week. The team together, with their patient and tactful approach made it happen. The entire team of teachers, are very competent and effective. The Orientation session conducted at the beginning , helped us understand the concept of Montessori learning, which is not very popular even today. The methodology is very convincing where the child is given the freedom to learn by choice , make learning fun. The infrastructure is very appropriate giving the child the full scope of self development and independent. Initially my child was less expressive, speaking 2-3 words. I am able to witness a big transformation in him in a span of nearly 2 months. He has become very vocal, observant, curious and experimental. All due credits to Clay Montessori. The Woman behind the Show, Ms Hetal Shah, is very approachable, caring and well trained. Regular feedbacks, awareness sessions makes it truly unique . I would definitely recommend Clay Montessori to those staying in the vicinity of Matunga, Sion , Dadar.

Clay Montessori has been the best of the experiences for our now 4 year old boy and 18 month old toddler. We had been reading about Montessori but never had any practical example within the family. So initially we were skeptical about this but it turned out very useful for our 4 year old boy. He was restrained at home due to Covid and kind of silent child with not much stuff to do. We enrolled him with Clay Montessori for English and Maths and it helped him come out of the shell. Along with this, it has also helped him read and write alphabets. In the initial month or so, we were doubting the process but Hetal did mention to be patient and give some time and the results post 6 months were very amazing. Even before he turned 4, he started reading words and currently even tries with sentences. Also at clay, the way maths is introduced is easy and relatable for kids. With the progress we saw for the elder one, we had no second thoughts for our younger one to join Clay. He joined Clay at 13 months and again the way he was handled at Clay to cope with the changes and staying at class without parents was amazing. He is always a happy child when he comes from the Class and at home he tries doing things independently which I believe is the outcome from Clay.

I have always wanted a Montessori school for Ira (thanks to Dr. Maria's philosophy). Montessori provides individualised learning for each child's stage of development. When I met Hetal, she explained the concept so beautifully that we were relieved that Ira is going to be perfectly in safe hands. The settling process went so smooth that within a week she started bonding with all the teachers (Aunties) and happily used to go to school. The best part is it values independence, a sense of responsibility and inculcates life skills early. Ira has started trying to do many things independently. To sum it up Clay Montessori is setting the base of the future of my child towards being independent and nurtures order, concentration and independence.

We were looking for a school that valued the holistic development of the child and took an age-appropriate view of how young children learn and come to love learning. We were looking for dedicated, experienced, teachers who makes a child safe and respected so that the child is open to new learning everyday. My son always looks forward to school and loves the idea that his interests and curiosity are respected and he is allowed to drive his daily choices. The parent workshops conducted by Hetal are very informative and provides a wide array of practical solutions to the parenting issues. Clay has been second home for my son and we are happy to be a part of the parent teacher community.
